The month-long fasting observed by Muslims culminated with the celebration of Id-ul-Fitr across the region on Saturday. In Kalaburagi city, Id was observed with deep religious fervour and gaiety by the Muslim community.

Dressed in new attire, Muslims offered special Salat at various mosques and Idgahs. Devotees, along with their families and children, gathered in large numbers at prominent places, including the Jamia Masjid located within the Kalaburagi Fort, Sheikh Roza Masjid, the KCT College ground, Dabarabad Idgah near Shor Gumbad, and Hagaraga Idgah on the outskirts of the city.

The occasion reflected strong communal harmony, as people from different faiths visited mosques and Idgahs to greet their friends and join in the celebrations. Before the prayers, many Muslims fulfilled the tradition of paying ‘fitra’ — an obligatory annual charity given by the head of the family on behalf of its members, ensuring that the underprivileged could also partake in the festivities.

Following the prayers, families and communities exchanged greetings and shared specially prepared festive delicacies with friends and neighbours from diverse backgrounds.

Public representatives participated in the celebrations. Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil offered prayers in Sedam, MLA B.R. Patil in Aland, and KKRDB Chairman Ajay Singh in Jewargi marked the occasion by joining the prayers.

Bidar

In Bidar, a large crowd gathered at the Idgah Maidan in front of the central bus stand for mass prayers led by Maulvis. After the prayers, people exchanged greetings and extended charity to the poor. Minister for Municipal Administration Rahim Khan and former minister Bandeppa Kashempur conveyed their greetings to the people on the occasion.

Mass prayers were also conducted at the Idgah grounds across Bidar city, including those located on Chidri, Janwada Road, Ashtoor Road, Hyderabad Road, Chitta Road, and Amalapur Road.
