The police on Thursday (January 1, 2026) arrested a youth after he posted a video showing the explosion of a country-made bomb, creating fear among local residents.
The police said the accused identified as N. Nandagopal of Thiruvakkarai near Vanur in Villupuram district was arrested based on a complaint. He had shared a video on his Instagram account recently showing the explosion of a country-made bomb.
The reel was found to be deliberately provocative, created with the intention of disturbing public peace and hindering traffic movement in the area, the police said. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against Nandagopal and arrested him. Further investigation is on.
