A young businessman from Athani on Saturday (September 12) drove his car with his helmet on to protest against the police for slapping him with a traffic violation fine for driving a four-wheeler without a helmet.

Subhash Bojane posted a video of his act on his social media handles.

He said he was given a notice asking him to pay a fine of ₹500 for allegedly not wearing a helmet while driving his car.

The AI camera recorded the car passing through Ambedkar Circle in Athani a few days ago. The owner subsequently received a WhatsApp notification imposing a ₹500 fine for a traffic violation. The notice cited “No Helmet” as the reason. Mr. Bojane’s post led to an online debate regarding the functioning of AI cameras.

Police officers told reporters in Athani on Sunday (September 13) that such notices were generated due to technical glitches in the cameras.
