Taking strong objection over reports of the Bengaluru Rural police misbehaving and assaulting women activists at the Nelamangala police station recently, the Karnataka State Commission for Women has written to the Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural district, seeking strict action against two inspectors who allegedly assaulted the two activists. The activists are associated with the Karnataka Rashtra Samiti (KRS).

The police had detained a group of protesting farmers and a group of KRS activists who visited the Nelamangala police station to question this were allegedly booked under false cases and detained. Then another team of KRS activists went to the station.

The Nelamangala inspector allegedly threatened them and snatched their mobile phones. The Madanayakanahalli inspector, who was called in as a reinforcement, allegedly dragged a woman activist to the road, assaulted her and snatched her mobile phone.

“Action needs to be taken against errant officials as per rules and an action taken report needs to be submitted to the commission,” the letter read.
