Additional Director General of Police (ADGP-Intelligence) Mahesh Chandra Laddha has clarified that police are unaware about the whereabouts of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Thippiri Tirupathi alias Devuji.

A native of Korutla town in Telangana, Mr. Tirupathi, is most wanted by the Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Maharashtra governments, and has been elusive for many years.

Responding to a query raised by the media here on Wednesday (November 19, 2025), on the whereabouts of Mr. Tirupathi, the AP State Intelligence Chief said that police were not having any information on the latter’s movements.

“The Maoist Party Central Committee Secretary had not surrendered, and he was not arrested by the police. We don’t have information on his movements,” Mr. Laddha clarified.

Mr. Tirupathi might be in Chhattisgarh or Telangana State, the Intelligence ADGP said.

Meanwhile, members of the AP Civil Leaders Committee (APCLC) and the CPI-ML New Democracy alleged that police have taken Mr. Tirupathi into their custody in the operation. They alleged that the encounters and the arrests made in the last two days were fake.

“Police should not cause any harm to the Maoists who were in custody, and produce Mr. Tirupathi, and other Maoists in the court immediately,” said APCLC State general secretary Chiluka Chandrashekar.
