Manohar Naidu, president of the Vijayawada Book Festival Society, after releasing wall posters for the 11-day event in Vijayawada, on Saturday. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and other dignitaries have been invited for the inaugural programme, he added.

Mr. Manohar Naidu said the festival will be held till January 12 at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in the city. The venue has been named after Vadlamudi Vimala Devi, while the main stage has been named after writer B.V. Pattabhiram. Meanwhile, ‘Pratibha Vedika’, where students’ programmes will be held, is named after astrophysicist and writer Jayant Narlikar.

Disclosing details about the programmes, Mr. Manohar Naidu said a rally would be organised from the P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science to the IGMC Stadium on January 5. Along with book sales, literary and cultural programmes, including book discussions, seminars, poetry readings, cultural performances, children’s programmes, interactions with writers, will be organised, the society president said.

Writers, scholars, critics from across the country will participate in these programmes during the festival, Mr. Manohar Naidu said.
