Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Wednesday (November 12, 2025) came down heavily on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, without explicitly naming them, and accused the ruling party of resorting to spreading slander against his party.

In a post on X, Mr. Vijay said, “In recent times, a political party that is on the verge of being rejected by the people has resorted to the politics of spreading slander. Do you know which party I am referring to? Is it necessary to say its name when it is the only political party that has made defaming others as its core political principle? Their only goal these days is to criticise the TVK.”

Mr. Vijay said the ruling party was making baseless allegations against the TVK, though his party had not yet begun a full-fledged critique of the DMK’s politics. According to him, his party’s criticism of the DMK had been mild and expressed with civility.

“To deceive the people by projecting themselves as ideologically committed, the leader of the party has declared Tamil language, Tamil Nadu, and Tamil identity as their core principles. When they are out of power, they talk about the Tamil language and Tamils, but after coming to office, they comfortably settle into positions of power and blame constitutional constraints while enjoying its privileges. When they avoided conducting a caste-based survey with the baseless excuse that the State had no authority to do so, where did their commitment to social justice go,” Mr. Vijay questioned.

“Having forgotten the ideals of Periyar [E.V. Ramasamy] and Anna [C.N. Annadurai], they now call the TVK, which is committed to secular social justice ideologies, as ideologically weak merely out of frustration,” he said.

Even during the protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the ruling party leaders were intent on criticising the TVK, he alleged. “We will continue to expose before the people the failures of their regime. In the 2026 Assembly election, we will make these slander-mongers realise the true power of the people,” he said.
