A private tourist bus hit a railing on the national highway and overturned near Chintareddypalem in Nellore early on Thursday (May 28, 2026). Three passengers were critically injured and 13 others sustained minor injuries out of the 43 people on the bus
According to the Nellore North traffic police, 39 members of a group and their relatives were travelling from Gudipadu village in Pedapadu mandal of Eluru district to Velankanni Mata Church in Tamil Nadu. Two drivers and two cooks were also on the bus.
The bus rammed into the highway railing, which is 2.5 feet high, and overturned near Chintareddypalem cross road at 3.10 a.m. Of those injured, 13 sustained minor injuries, two had fractures, and a boy suffered a head injury. The police said that the accident was due to the driver’s negligence.
The injured were admitted to Medicover Hospital and undergoing treatment. As the driver was also injured, the police could not question him. His blood samples were taken to determine whether he was under the influence. The investigation is ongoing.
