Uttar Pradesh Dairy Department on Friday (August 21, 2026) said that in a bid to disseminate the advantages of various public welfare initiatives to eligible beneficiaries and promote the rural economy, the government is encouraging Dairy conclaves.

“The Dairy Development Department completed its 50 years on 17th April 2026. To commemorate this, under the blessings & guidance of Hon’ble CM Adityanath Yogi ji, two days Dugdamrit Searn Mahotsav was organised in Lucknow, in which thousands of milk farmers, investors, milk-producing companies, SHG, and co-operatives assembled,” said Dhanalakshmi K., Dairy Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, speaking with The Hindu in Lucknow.

“There were experts, technicians, and professors from different universities, institutions, and non-governmental entities. Deliberations, discussions, experience sharing, and success stories from farmers, investors, and exporters were discussed, said Ms. Dhanalakshmi K.

“To take it further, it was decided to reach all the divisions; a divisional conclave was planned in which two or three divisions were covered. On 5th May, a Meerut conclave (Meerut, Saharanpur); on 14th May, at Agra (Agra and Aligarh); on 20th August, at Bareilly (Bareilly, Moradabad, Lucknow), the Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Dharampal Singh, also graced the occasions,” she added.

“We are holding such conclaves across divisions and districts in the State. In between, on 5th August, to cover the entire Uttar Pradesh at the district level, a district dairy conclave was organised. It is to mark the 50-year celebration throughout the year to enhance the growth of the rural economy, women’s empowerment, quality of milk, assured income, employment to the masses, food security and health, quality of life, contributing towards a one trillion-dollar economy,” she added.

Ms. Dhanalakshmi, a 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, added that this initiative also aims to inform eligible beneficiaries about the benefits of various public welfare programs implemented by the Dairy Development Department.

“Our goal is to raise awareness regarding modern technologies and scientific livestock management in the dairy sector, while ensuring the effective implementation of departmental schemes, modern dairy management (which encompasses the Nand Baba Dugdh Mission), formal dairy processing (Dugdh Policy-2022), and fodder management, the core idea is to strengthen rural economy and contribute in one trillion-dollar mission of the State, “ Ms. Dhanalakshmi.

She added that members of milk unions, milk-producing farmers, and self-help groups are encouraged to take help from welfare measures.

“What we are eyeing is to make Uttar Pradesh a leading state in milk production and development, provide fair milk prices to rural farmers locally through dairy cooperative societies and Dairy Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), basically our target is a mass dairy revolution by two major policies, NAND baba Dugd mission, Dairy Policy -2022,” she said.
