Highlighting that adopting unified digital identity systems has many academic and administrative benefits, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Vice-Chairperson K. Ratna Shiela Mani has urged the institutions to implement these platforms.

She was speaking at a workshop ‘APAAR–Credit Seeding’, jointly organised by the APSCHE, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS) and National Academic Depository (NAD), University Grants Commission (UGC), on the university campus in Vijayawada on Saturday.

She emphasised the key role played by digital academic reforms in strengthening transparency, portability, and efficiency in higher education. In achieving these goals, APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) and SAMARTH (Smart Automated Management of Academic Resources for Transforming Higher Education) play an important role, she said.

Health and Family Welfare Secretary Sourabh Gour stressed the need for coordinated efforts among universities, autonomous colleges, and government departments for successful digital transformation in the education sector.

APSCHE State Nodal Officer for APAAR and SAMARTH P. Anil Kumar said the ‘One Nation One ID’ initiative is important in enabling seamless academic record management and mobility for students in institutions across the country.

During the session, a digital convocation application was demonstrated, showcasing end-to-end processes including digital degree issuance, secure verification, and real-time access to academic credentials.

Ravi Pandey, Resource Person and Regional Coordinator, Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India, explained the completed modules, remaining applications and use cases, and addressed queries related to operational challenges, implementation strategies, and career-related concerns.

Faculty members, APAAR nodal officers, Deans, Assistant Deans of the Examination Section, Controllers of Examinations, and technical staff representing Autonomous and Constituent Colleges from Guntur and Krishna districts participated in the workshop.
