As Bengaluru Milk Union Ltd. (BAMUL) is expected to report a record turnover of about ₹3,400 crore by the end of the 2025-2026 financial year, it has decided to pay ₹1 per litre as ‘Ugadi Bonus’ to 1.27 lakh farmers from whom milk is procured from April 1 to March 31, 2026. This year, BAMUL has procured 59.39 crore litres of milk this year, and the ‘Ugadi Bonus’ will entail an expenditure of about ₹59.39 crore.

On average, 16 to 18 lakh litres of milk is procured daily, the milk union targets to reach 24 lakh average procurement daily.

“BAMUL, which had reported a loss of ₹14.5 crore, has already reported a profit of ₹60 crore. So far, the turnover this year has increased by around ₹500 crore. Last year, turnover was around ₹2,900 crore,” BAMUL president D.K. Suresh told presspersons here on Thursday. He said that BAMUL has set the target of reaching a turnover of ₹5,000 crore in coming years.

He said that apart from paying farmers the Ugadi Bonus, the milk union has decided to pay ₹5,000 to casual workers, clear the DA dues of ₹4.68 crore to workers, and confirm the appointment of workers who had not been confirmed in the last three years. BAMUL will also provide ₹15,000 to each of 2,300 milk cooperative societies that will cost about ₹3.45 crores.
