A 64-year-old man has been arrested by the Kodagu police for murdering his sister and her alleged lover in Kundacheri village in Bhagamandala police station in Kodagu district on Wednesday.

After receiving information about the murder of Yashodha and Kunhirama, both residents of Kundacheri village, by the accused Chandu, also a resident of the same village, the Bhagamandala police registered a case under Section 103 (1) of the BNS Act and began investigation.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Yashodha and Kunhirama were in an illicit relationship for the past two years. The accused Chandu, who was opposed to the relationship, attacked his sister and her alleged lover after a quarrel and reportedly murdered both of them with a knife, the police said.

Superintendent of Kodagu district police Bindu Mani R.N. and senior police officials visited the spot along with the crime detection staff and gathered information and evidence related to the offence, said a statement issued by the office of the Superintendent of Kodagu district police.
