Two persons were killed after the motorcycle they were riding rammed into a car and a tanker lorry waiting at a traffic signal at Athani near Nedumbassery on Sunday (June 28).

The deceased were identified as Adithya Prasad, 24, and K.S. Kabil, 24, both natives of Karimpanakuzhy in Pathanamthitta district.

According to the police, the duo were travelling from Aluva to Angamaly when the accident occurred around 6.30 a.m. at Athani Junction. The motorcycle reportedly went out of control, first hitting a car waiting at the traffic signal before crashing into a tanker lorry parked alongside it.

Though the injured were rushed to a private hospital in Angamaly, they were declared brought dead.

The Nedumbassery police have registered a case in connection with the incident. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem, the police said.
