Two migrant workers from Odisha were allegedly attacked by unidentified men on the Vaigai riverbed near Thiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district on Tuesday night.

Police said Manosuran, 29, and Saswaraj Dekhuri, 25, were working in a private rubber and plastic ball manufacturing company in Manalur area. They went to the Vaigai riverbed to relieve themselves.

At that time, two unidentified persons who were consuming alcohol there attacked the duo with a knife. Later, the two injured persons were admitted to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital with the help of their friends.

Based on the complaint preferred by the migrant workers, Thiruppuvanam police have registered a case, and formed special teams to nab those who attacked them.
