Congress-backed candidates continued their strong run in the second phase of Sarpanch elections, securing victories in a large number of villages, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) also put up an impressive performance. In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once again failed to make a significant impact.

The second phase witnessed keenly contested battles in several villages, with victory margins remaining extremely narrow in many constituencies. Both the Congress and BRS benefited from these close contests, managing to edge out rivals by slender margins in a number of places.

According to information available so far, Congress-supported candidates have won in over 2,000 villages, while the BRS has crossed the 1,000-village mark. However, these figures remain unofficial as the elections were conducted without party symbols, making formal party-wise tallies unavailable.

The BJP’s performance continued to be modest, with its victories estimated to be between 200 and 250 villages based on the latest data. Apart from the major parties, Congress rebels and independent candidates also registered notable successes in several villages, underlining the importance of individual candidate profiles.
