Police arrested two persons of a three-member gang for their alleged involvement in stealing cars, in Nellore on Monday. While two of them were arrested, search is on for the main accused. The police seized five cars worth approximately ₹1.20 crore from the accused.

Revealing the case details to the media on Monday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajitha Vejendla said, “Dargamitta police arrested a gang involved in stealing cars from other States and bringing them to Nellore and surrounding areas for sale.”

A special team was formed comprising Dargamitta Circle Inspector and staff. During a vehicle inspection at Annamayya Circle, the police detained two persons – Thupili Siva from Nellore Town and Paravastu Lakshman Kumar from Atmakur – on suspicion, and conducted an interrogation.

According to the police, the main accused along with his associates, committed car thefts in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Haryana and brought the stolen vehicles to Nellore. They changed the original number plates, fixed Andhra Pradesh and Telangana registration numbers, and sold them here with fake documents, police added.
