The Kurnool police on Sunday (January 18, 2026) arrested two persons on charges of stealing batteries from parked vehicles and recovered 11 stolen batteries.
Kurnool IV Town Circle Inspector Vikramsimha said that the accused stole batteries from autos, tractors, borewell vehicles and earth movers parked at Santosh Nagar, NTR Buildings, Udyog Nagar and Weaker Section colony over the past one month. Three cases were registered under the IV Town limits and the police reviewed the CCTV footage to nab the accused.
Police found that Sudhakar and Mahendra of Chenchu Nagar in the city were involved in the theft of batteries and nabbed them at Gooty Petrol filling station on Sunday. During questioning, they confessed that they stole batteries from 11 vehicles, which were recovered.
