A video of a traffic constable helping a physically challenged person stranded in the middle of a severely waterlogged road during rain on Friday has gone viral, drawing widespread public appreciation.

Often, the Bengaluru Traffic Police attract negative attention on social media over traffic congestion, issuing challans mid-road, and getting caught in heated exchanges with citizens. However, this video portrays another side of the police department.

The video shows a traffic constable, identified as Anil of the Byatarayanapura Traffic Police Station, dressed in an orange raincoat, trying to help a physically challenged person cross the road. However, with the road flooded to knee level and water flowing swiftly, the person struggles to walk. The constable then lifts him onto his shoulder and carries him safely across.

Several social media users shared the video with captions such as “Sometimes heroes don’t wear capes”, “The other face of the police”, and “When humanity wins,” among others.
