The State government’s tourism policy is aimed at public welfare, and it helps increase the income of local communities, Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas has said.

He was inaugurating the Global Responsible Tourism Meet and declaring Beypore an international model responsible tourism destination at Cheruvannur in Kozhikode on Saturday (February 7).

Mr. Riyas said that by enabling planned and people-centric tourism, handicrafts, food, and traditional industries were getting importance. “This ensures that the benefits of tourism reach even the most ordinary sections of society,” he said.

As part of the Responsible Tourism initiative, 112 units are currently functioning, and many of which have been provided with financial assistance by the government, the Minister added.
