Tirupati district, particularly its coastal mandals, is on high alert following predictions of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday.

A control room has been set up at the Tirupati Collectorate, where the public can call 0877–2236007 for updates on weather conditions and government arrangements. Similarly, the control room at the Gudur Sub-Collector’s Office can be reached at 08624–252807 or 85000 08279.

Collector S. Venkateswar has instructed district and mandal officials to provide a dedicated phone number for receiving feedback from the public and sending alerts. He has also directed that hourly reports on the situation be submitted to him to enable real-time action.

At a meeting held on Tuesday, he discussed measures to mitigate the loss of life and property due to the heavy rains. Officials were urged to ensure preparedness at all levels and leave nothing to chance.

Municipal Corporation of Tirupati Commissioner N. Mourya was directed to visit low-lying areas and oversee efforts to drain excess water. She was also asked to keep relief materials ready for those likely to be affected.

The Medical and Health Department has been instructed to despatch emergency medicines and first-aid supplies across the district, while the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Animal Husbandry Departments have been advised to coordinate with farmers, suggesting measures to protect crops and livestock.
