Terming the incident of firing on actor Tiger Shroff’s car as ‘unfortunate’, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde said that the police will respond to the shooters in their own language. On Sunday (October 18, 2026) evening, three unidentified men came on a bike at Mumbai’s Pushpa Park in Juhu, while two of them allegedly opened fire on the actor’s car before fleeing.

“I have spoken with the Mumbai Police Commissioner. They have formed special teams to probe the matter. We will nab them. We will respond to them in the language they understand. We have the responsibility of the safety of Mumbaikars. It is our priority,” he said in a conversation with The Hindu on Sunday (October 18, 2026) night. He said that he had already spoken with the actor and had assured him of strict action in the matter.

Responding to a question on the incidents of firing on celebrities related to the Hindi film industry, he said that the government will take measures to arrest this. “In the last few months, actors have been threatened. They are being terrorised. We will not leave such criminals. We will also review the security arrangements for the celebrities,” he said.

When asked about a gang claiming responsibility for the attack, Mr Shinde said, “Whichever gang might be responsible for it, we will not leave them.” Recalling the era of 1990s when gang wars had led to bloodbath on the streets of Mumbai, Mr Shinde said that the Mumbai Police had even then reigned in on such forces. “Gangs used to come out in the open and claim responsibility for attacks. But the Mumbai Police weeded them out at that time. We will not tolerate the handiwork of any gangs here,” he said.

NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, who lost his father Baba Siddique to a shootout in Mumbai a few years ago, said the incidents of shootings at celebrities indicated intelligence failure of the Mumbai Police. He demanded immediate action in the matter.
