The Pocharam IT Corridor Police arrested three men within 12 hours of a shooting incident at Yamnampet, Ghatkesar, which left a 28-year-old man critically injured. The police also seized a country-made pistol, a car and mobile phones from the accused.

The arrested men were identified as 24-year-old Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi, a cattle transporter from Bandlaguda; 29-year-old Kuruva Srinivas, a farmer from Shabad and 22-year-old Hassan bin Mosin, also involved in the cattle transport business, from Kalapathar. Another accused, 34-year-old Mohammad Haneef Qureshi, from Rajendranagar, remains absconding.

The victim, 28-year-old Bidla Prashanth Kumar alias Sonu Singh, a resident of Rampally in Keesara, is an active member of a Gau Rakshak Dal (a cow protection group) said Rachakonda police commissioner, G. Sudheer Babu.

The case was registered under Sections 109 and 61(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25(1)(a) and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959.

According to the officer, at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday (October 22, 2025), Prashanth was called to Yamnampet by his friend Srinivas. “When he arrived, he found Srinivas along with Ibrahim, Haneef and Hassan. During their meeting, the men reportedly confronted him for exposing their illegal cattle transportation activities. The argument escalated, and Ibrahim allegedly pulled out a pistol from his car and shot Prashanth in the right side of his chest before fleeing the spot,” explained the officer.

Police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to a private hospital in Medipally. Due to the seriousness of his injury, he was later shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad for emergency surgery. Doctors recovered a bullet from his body, while police collected blood-stained clothes and other evidence.

Investigations revealed that the shooting was motivated by both revenge and financial dispute. Police said the prime accused, Ibrahim, suffered losses amounting to ₹1 crore after the victim intercepted several of his cattle transport vehicles. Additionally, Prashanth had allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh from Ibrahim to stop interfering in his activities.

The police formed special teams and arrested three of the four accused from Shamshabad in the early hours of Thursday (October 23, 2025). A car (AP 09 CK 4788), three mobile phones and the country-made pistol used in the offence were recovered from their possession. At the crime scene, officers also found two empty cartridges and cigarette butts.

Commissioner Sudheer Babu said the accused had multiple previous cases linked to illegal cattle transportation and cruelty to animals registered at Mulugu, Gajwel, Shamshabad Rural and Ghatkesar police stations. Ibrahim too has an extortion case registered at Kamatipura Police Station in 2022.
