The Hindu in School Science Festival and Ramanujam Spark Quest (Maths and  Science Olympiad) will be held at Veera Shaiva Kalyana Mandira, Old Taluk office road, beside Shivamogga City Corporation office in Shivamogga on December 6.

The event features an inter-school competition, nurturing scientific curiosity and mathematical talent among students. It also provides a platform for students with innovative ideas on science concepts to showcase their talent.

The competition starts at 9 a.m. and is open for students from Shivamogga district.

Guidelines for Science Fest

A team should include two students from Class 6 to Class 10. There is no entry fee. Any bona fide team from a school can participate by sending an e-mail to mlrcir@thehindu.co.in. Teams must report at the venue by 8.30 a.m. on the day.

Students participating in the festival will have to demonstrate innovative, cost-effective working model projects under the Make in India concept.

The winner will receive a cash prize, trophy, and merit certificate. The first and second runners-up will get cash prizes, trophies and certificates.

All participants get participation certificates.

Guidelines for Ramanujan Spark Quest

Each school can nominate five students each from Classes 6 to 10. Participants have to answer 50 questions in one hour, and total marks are 200.

Questions based on Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) will be 30 and the remaining 20 questions will be related to Mathematics and Mental Ability. Each question has four options and the students have to select and shade the correct option on the OMR sheet with a ball pen. The participants get four marks for every correct answer and –1 mark for every wrong answer. If two or more students have the same total score, the score in Mathematics/Mental Ability will be used to break the tie.

The winner will receive a cash prize, trophies,  and a merit certificate. The first and second runners-ups will also receive cash prize, trophies, and merit certificates. Every participant will receive participation certificates.

Schools can register by emailing the participants’ names and contact details on or before December 4 to mlrcir@thehindu.co.in. Excellent Moodbidri is the title sponsor for the event and MadhuShree products- RAAGIDAY biscuits is the snack partner.

For more details and assistance on registration, call M.S. Madhava on 9035566695/7019946301 and Surendra Shetty on 9448279124/6360056762.
