Wedding dramas have always been a favourite genre in cinema, blending chaos, emotions, and humour into stories that feel both relatable and entertaining. Over the years, several films in both Bollywood and Hollywood have been made and received praise from audiences.

Now, the much-anticipated romantic drama The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, is arriving in theatres on Friday, April 3, 2026. From 14 Phere and Dolly Ki Doli to The Roses and The Drama, let’s take a look at films that revolve around crazy weddings and explore marital stories.

Films based on crazy weddings and marital stories

1. 14 Phere

The romantic drama film 14 Phere is directed by Devanshu Singh and stars Vikrant Massey, Kriti Kharbanda, and Jameel Khan in the lead roles. The film follows the story of Sanjay, a Rajput from Jahanabad, who falls in love with Aditi, a Jat from Jaipur. 

To get married without hurting their families, they arranged a fake set of parents, leading to a series of humorous and emotional situations. The film can be streamed on Zee 5.

2. Dolly Ki Doli

Another famous movie that revolves around weddings is Dolly Ki Doli, directed by Abhishek Dogra. The 2015 film features Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma, and Pulkit Singh in the lead roles. This romantic comedy-drama follows the story of a con woman named Dolly, played by Sonam Kapoor, who marries unsuspecting men and runs away on the wedding night with their money.

3. Tanu Weds Manu

The romantic drama film Tanu Weds Manu, starring R. Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut, follows the story of a London-based doctor who returns to India to find a bride but ends up falling for a free-spirited girl, Tanu, played by Kangana Ranaut. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film was a hit at the box office.

4. The Roses

The satire comedy movie The Roses features Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Kate McKinnon, and Andy Samberg in the lead roles. The film is about a couple whose picture‑book marriage begins to fall apart when their professional lives take very different turns. Directed by Jay Roach, the film is available to stream on JioHotstar.

5. The Drama

The Drama is a Hollywood film, written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli. It features Zendaya and the Twilight Saga fame actor Robert Pattinson in the lead roles. The movie is releasing on big screens on April 3, 2026. 

The movie follows the story of a happily engaged couple whose wedding week takes an unexpected turn after a shocking confession.
