The Thalassery International Film Festival, organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and held at the Liberty Theatre complex, successfully concluded after four days, showcasing world cinema on Sunday (October 19).

The closing ceremony was inaugurated by Minister O.R. Kelu and attended by notable dignitaries, including Speaker A.N. Shamseer, who honoured national award-winning actor Vijayaraghavan. The festival featured 55 outstanding international films, alongside an exhibition commemorating Malayalam literary and cinematic legend M.T. Vasudevan Nair.

Films that drew attention included Human Animal by Alexander Pugno, Memories of a Burning Body by Antonella Sudasassi Furniss, Mukhakannadi by Santosh and Satish Babusenan, and Malayalam entries Riptide by V.K. Afrad, A Pan Indian Story by V.C. Abhilash, and Mayannu, Marivarayunnu, Nishwasmadil by Abhilash Babu. Other screenings included Lovable, I Am Still Here, Humans in the Loop, The Room Next Door, In the Name of Fire, Second Chance, and Meeting with Pol Pot.

The festival paid tribute to Thalassery’s celebrated music director K. Raghavan on his 12th death anniversary, with a commemorative resolution presented by C. Ajoy. An exhibition, Kaalam; Mayachithrangal, honoured the literary contributions of Malayalam stalwart M.T. Vasudevan Nair.

The festival concluded with an open forum for filmmakers, a discussion programme, and a musical performance. Thalassery Municipality Chairperson K.M. Jamunarani presided over the inaugural ceremony, which saw participation from local panchayat presidents, producers, and members of the Chalachitra Academy.
