Inter-IIT sports meet concludes at IIT-Tirupati

The 58th Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2025 concluded at the Indian Institute of Technology-Tirupati (IIT-T) campus here on Sunday. The event comprising competitions in chess, tennis and weightlifting was hosted by IIT Tirupati, in collaboration with IIT-Madras and IIT-Hyderabad, with contingents from all the IITs across India taking part.

IIT-Madras Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations) Ashwin Mahalingam, who was the chief guest of the day, explained how sports play an integral role in ensuring holistic development of a student. He appreciated IIT-T as the first among the third generation IITs to host the event and appreciated the infrastructure standards of the tennis courts and allied facilities.

IIT-T Director K.N. Satyanarayana congratulated all the participating institutions and thanked the partner IITs for ensuring smooth conduct of the event.

IIT-Bombay emerged champions in chess, followed by IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Madras and IIT-Patna. IIT-Madras clinched the champion title in tennis, while IIT-Ropar, IIT-Kharagpur and IIT-Bombay bagged the other top positions. Similarly, in the weightlifting event, IIT-Madras, IIT-Roorkee, IIT-Ropar, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT-Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur claimed podium finishes and excelled in the multiple weight classes.
