Telangana government is committed to growth of startups and in the process of initiating a number of steps to bolster the ecosystem, including a ₹1,000 crore Fund of Funds, setting up an AI Hub and rolling out Quantum Technology roadmap, IT and Industries Secretary Sanjay Kumar said on Monday.

Speaking at the inaugural session of Iconn Summit 2025 organised by the CII Centre of Excellence for Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Startups (CII CIES), the senior official said the Fund of Funds, to be launched in partnership with alternative investment funds, will take startups to the next trajectory.

Envisaging a role for startups as Telangana sets course to emerge as a $1 trillion economy by 2030, he said the State government is also planning to launch its Quantum Technology roadmap alongside the National Quantum Mission that the Centre will be unveiling at a event to be organised by IIIT shortly.

On the AI Hub proposed by the State government, Mr.Sanjay Kumar said it will be the largest such with a focus on healthcare, biologics, deeptech, AI and cyber security. The government has also earmarked 400 acres each for data centre hubs in Meerkhanpet and near Sitarampur and Chandanvelly. It is also keen on facilitating the setting of centres of excellence in cyber security and biologics.

“The State government is taking steps to create complete ecosystem… once everything is operational Hyderabad can boast of having best facilities for startups,” he said, adding the new Life Sciences policy will also be launched soon. Under the policy, the government will accord industry status for research and development work. The move with incentives from the government will be a real gamer for the Life Sciences sector, he added.

The operational framework of the State’s MSME Policy are being finalised and set for launch soon, the official, adding 10 MSMEs Parks, of which one will be exclusively for women entrepreneurs, are to be announced.

Chairman of CII CIES advisory board Kris Gopalakrishnan highlighted the growing national importance of corporate–startup collaboration, CII said in a release on the summit. CII vice president Suchitra K Ella and co-chairman of CII National Startup Council C. K. Ranganathan spoke.
