Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha urged the Central government to sanction an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) for the State, citing its vast reserve of medicinal plants and long-standing tradition of holistic healing.

In a letter addressed to Union Minister for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav, the Health Minister requested that Telangana be considered for one of the ten national-level Ayurveda institutes the Centre plans to establish across the country by 2030.

The Minister highlighted that Telangana’s forests are home to a wide variety of plants with proven medicinal properties, and that the State has been making efforts to strengthen and popularise traditional systems of medicine. He noted that around 800 yoga instructors have been appointed recently and that AYUSH hospitals across the State are being upgraded.

“AYUSH practices have been an integral part of Telangana’s cultural and healthcare traditions for centuries,” the Minister said. The Minister assured that the State government is ready to provide the necessary land and infrastructure for the institute.

Following up on the proposal, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Sangeetha Satyanarayana and Director of the Department of AYUSH Srikanth Babu Perugu met the Union Minister in Hyderabad on Saturday (October 11) and handed over the request letter.
