The Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme among other pivotal initiatives launched by the Congress government are rooted in State government’s unwavering resolve to uplift tribal people and other marginalised sections of society, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

It was a nostalgic moment for Mr. Vikramarka as he visited some tribal villages in Adilabad and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts on Thursday where he had stayed for a few days enroute his State-wide ‘People’s march’ padayatra as the Congress Legislature Party leader in 2023.

Be it the free RTC bus travel scheme for women, the Young India Integrated Residential Schools or free electricity up to 200 units, all these pioneering initiatives demonstrate the people’s government’s steadfast commitment to all-inclusive welfare and holistic model of development, he asserted.

He noted that all these initiatives are direct responses to the problems and issues raised by people during the padayatra. An amount of Rs 17,000 crore has been allocated under the ST sub-plan to strengthen the ITDAs, he added.

He emphasised that he has not forgotten a single village, person or problem that he encountered during the padayatra. While presenting the budget in the State Assembly, I am ensuring that every issue is addressed, Mr. Vikramarka, who holds the Finance, Planning and Energy portfolios said.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Vikramarka interacted with Gangubai and Laxmibai who offered him food during his visit to Devuguda hamlet during his walkathon in 2023. He said, “You offered me food and walked with me during my padayatra for several kilometres, exactly two years ago. You blessed us and brought the people’s government to power. I invite both of you to Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad for lunch. I will make necessary transport arrangements,” Mr Vikramarka said.

Responding to requests from the villagers for permanent buildings for the Anganwadi Centre and the government school, he assured to address unresolved issues and take up further development works in the tribal villages.
