Burglars decamped with 400 liquor bottles, which are estimated to be around ₹50,000, at a Tasmac outlet at Mel Pudupakkam village near Arcot town in Ranipet on Wednesday.

Police said that the outlet salesman, B. Suresh, 42, opened the outlet around noon. He found a hole on the wall that had been drilled to gain access to the stocks in the shop. Police said that staff at the outlet found that several racks of liquor bottles had been stolen. Hard disks of CCTV cameras fixed inside the outlets were also missing, and the cameras were damaged. Based on a complaint, the Kalavai police secured the CCTV footage along the route where the shop is located. A case has been registered, and further probe is under way.
