A 38-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a private lodge at Madiwala in Bengaluru, raising suspicion of a possible drug overdose or health-related complication.

The deceased has been identified as Murali, a resident of Puliyampatti in Tamil Nadu. According to police, the private lodge is located at Maruti Nagar under the limits of Madiwala Police Station.

Police said a man, identified as Fajiulla Khan, had booked a room in the lodge. Murali had reportedly entered the lodge and stayed in the same room without making an entry in the guest register.

On May 20, Murali was allegedly found lying motionless on the bed inside the room. Lodge staff alerted the police, who rushed to the spot. They saw blood oozing from the victim’s mouth.

Fajiulla Khan is absconding, police sources said.

Investigators suspect that Murali may have died either due to a drug overdose or because of a medical condition. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem examination.

The body has been shifted to a hospital for autopsy. Police have informed the family of the deceased. Efforts are on to track Fajiulla Khan.
