MDMK leader Durai Vaiko on Wednesday (April 8, 2026) criticised the sitting BJP MLA, C. Saraswathi, for failing to meet residents and address the needs of the Modakkurichi constituency.

Addressing the media while campaigning for the party’s candidate, S. Senthil Nathan, in the constituency, who is contesting on the DMK’s ‘Rising Sun’ symbol, Mr. Vaiko alleged that the Jal Jeevan Mission had not been properly implemented in the constituency and blamed the MLA, aligned with the Union government, for the lapse. He noted that the region, known for the cultivation of sugarcane, turmeric, and paddy, had not received adequate support for value addition, particularly for turmeric. “She has failed to take any steps for the welfare of the farming community,” he said.
