A case of suspicious death of a 16-year-old girl reported from a village in Saidapur mandal of Karimnagar district on November 14 this year turned out to be a case of ‘honour killing’ with the arrest of the parents of the minor girl by the police on Thursday.
According to the police, the parents of the girl allegedly strangled her to death last month over her alleged love affair with a married youth of the same village.
They lodged a complaint with the local police stating that their daughter committed suicide due to recurring chronic stomach pain.
A detailed investigation by the police unraveled the ‘honour killing’ angle, leading to the arrest of the parents of the deceased minor girl. Further investigation is underway.
