Minister for Medical Education Dr. Sharanprakash Patil alleged that the ‘culture’ of giving the post of chief minister by taking money is in BJP, not in Congress, because the Congress government had been elected by the people of Karnataka.
Reacting to the allegation of former Punjab minister Navjot Kaur’s allegation of ‘500 cr suitcase’ to become chief minister, Dr. Patil said that there is no such culture in the Congress.
He said that the comprehensive development of north Karnataka is the main objective of the State Government, and accordingly, pending issues would be addressed on priority. “It has become a habit for BJP leaders to make allegations just because they are in the opposition,” he mocked.
Dr. Patil suggested that BJP leaders ask questions on the issues of development in the legislature session, and they (Congress ministers) were ready to give answers to them. “However, the BJP leaders were not interested as they were unable to digest the joint statement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar after the breakfast meetings,” he said.
Let BJP speak on injustice
Chief Whip of Karnataka Legislative Council Saleem Ahmed dared BJP leaders to speak on the injustice meted out to the State by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On replacing Legislative Council Chairperson Basavaraj Horatti, he said that it would be decided by the party high command. “The question of replacing Mr. Horatti has not been discussed. Moreover, both BJP and Congress have equal numbers in the council,” he said.
