The three-day student symposium ACCESS-2K26, organised by the Department of Civil Engineering, Andhra University, held its valedictory ceremony on Thursday, with students showcasing models offering solutions to social problems.
Students from Andhra University and other colleges presented models based on issues they observed in society. AU students P. Juhi and S. Roshini Sri designed an eco-friendly housing model for hilly and elevated areas, incorporating supporting pillars, solar power and rainwater harvesting systems.
GVP College students B. Kanishk, K. Akhil, B. Megha Sai and D. Raju displayed a Personal Rapid Transport System designed to operate in limited space along roads.
T. Nimeesh, P. Sravya and B. Ratna Priya presented a Smart Integration Dust Corridor proposing a three-stage system to control pollution from the port through filters, tree planting and sensors. Models on water supply systems and bridge construction were also displayed.
The valedictory function was attended by Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar, who stressed the importance of career planning and continuous learning for professional success. He appreciated the Department of Civil Engineering for providing students opportunities to develop technical knowledge, creativity, communication, teamwork and leadership skills. Prizes and certificates were distributed to winners and participants of various competitions. More than 350 students participated in the three-day event, according to faculty coordinator K. Rajasekhar.
