The Congress government is implementing landmark initiatives to promote women’s economic empowerment and set up Young India Integrated Residential Schools to create a talent pool of students to drive State’s growth, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

These far-reaching measures will help the State steer the path of sustainable economic growth and inclusive development, he said, adding only the Congress government has the capability to shape the State to compete globally, he noted.

The Deputy CM was addressing a public meeting in Dharmapuri of Jagtial district after laying the foundation stones for a slew of development works worth ₹263 crore in the temple town on Wednesday. These include foundation stone laying for a Young India Integrated Residential School in Dharmapuri. Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Adluri Laxman Kumar were present.

Mr. Vikramarka slammed the previous BRS rulers saying they treated governance as looting during their nearly 10-year rule. In Congress party’s view, governance means creating wealth and distributing among the people of the State.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the long-cherished dream of Telangana people for statehood with aspiration that the Telangana State should compete with the world. The Congress government’s landmark welfare and development initiatives are testament to Indiramma rajyam’s resolve to make Telangana compete globally in development, he asserted.

Farmers’ welfare forms the crux of Congress government’s welfare agenda, he said, the State government has spent Rs 1 lakh crore exclusively for farmers’ welfare.

The Young India Integrated Residential Schools are designed based on the egalitarian concept and they are being built with facilities on par with international schools. Each school is being constructed on 25 acres at a cost of ₹200 crore with a total allocation of ₹22,500 crore for a total of 100 schools across the State.

He exuded confidence that these schools will help students become IAS officers and CEOs of major companies and contribute to the State’s development.

He recalled that homeless poor people narrated their tale of woe to him during his ‘People’s March’ padayatra as CLP leader in 2023. Immediately after coming to power, the Congress government started implementing the Indiramma housing scheme by spending Rs 5 lakh per house to fulfil the dreams of poor people for housing.

In the first phase, 4.5 lakh houses were sanctioned across the State. He outlined various flagship schemes of the Congress government including Gruha Jyothi free electricity scheme, Maha Lakshmi scheme for free bus travel for women and free fine rice distribution to ration-card holders.
