Taking stock of the impact of Cyclone Ditwah on various parts of Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday (December 1, 2025) asked officials to take steps to drain water that had inundated the farmland. He also instructed the Collectors to distribute compensation for loss of human lives and cattle and damage to huts.

At a meeting held at the Secretariat in Chennai to review the relief operations and preparedness by government agencies, Mr. Stalin instructed officials to distribute compensation to farmers because agricultural crops standing on about 4,235 hectares and horticultural crops on 345 hectares had been affected by the rain this October.

He asked them to ensure the supply of food, water, and medicines to those who were accommodated in 39 relief camps.

In a social media post, Mr. Stalin said, “I have issued directions for granting compensation for the loss of crops, houses, human lives and cattle from the State Disaster Response Fund. I have been monitoring steps to drain water from areas that have been affected. Our government will provide and protect all the people who are in relief camps as long as they require them.”

Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials of the Revenue and Disaster Management and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Departments took part at the meeting.

At another event, Mr. Stalin virtually inaugurated an amusement and water park established by Wonderla Holidays Limited at Thiruporur in Chengalpattu district. The project, which has come up on an investment of ₹611 crore, is expected to provide employment to about 1,000 people.

Ministers T.M. Anbarasan and T.R.B. Rajaa; MLAs S.S. Balaji, I. Karunanithi, and S.R. Raja; senior officials of Guidance Tamil Nadu; and Wonderla Holidays Limited chairman and managing director Arun K. Chittilappilly were present at Thiruporur for the inauguration.
