The annual Brahmotsavams at the TTD-run Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram commenced in a grand manner on Sunday (February 08) with ‘Dhwajarohonam’ ritual, marking the hoisting of the sacred flag atop the temple flagpost.

The event was conducted as per Vaikhanasa Agama (doctrine of temple worship), wherein the flag was hoisted at the designated ‘Kumbha Lagnam’ between 8.15 a.m. and 8.35 a.m., considered to be auspicious hours as per Hindu almanac.

Priests chanted hymns from the scriptures and the instrumentalists beat the traditional drums, cymbals and wind pipe to add grandeur to the occasion, when the officiating priest (Kankana Bhattar) Balaji Rangacharyulu hoisted the flag. Devotees gathered around the Dhwaja Sthambham chanted ‘Govinda Govinda’.

Participating in his maiden religious event after taking over, TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra explained the elaborate arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the event and the facilities being extended to the visiting devotees.

‘Garuda Seva’, considered the magnum opus of the nine-day event, will be held in a grand manner on February 12, followed by golden chariot (February 13), Rathotsavam (February 15) and Chakra Snanam (February 16).

Joint Executive Officer V. Veerabrahmam, Chief Vigilance & Security Officer K.V. Muralikrishna, Special Officer and Chief Public Relations Officer T. Ravi, Deputy Executive Officer (Special Grade) V. Varalakshmi and Assistant Executive Officer M. Gopinath took part.
