A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable and his wife have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old girl at their government accommodation in Greater Noida, the police said on Monday (January 19, 2026).

The accused, identified as Tarik Anwar and Rimpa Khatun, were arrested on Sunday (January 18, 2026) and booked under Section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita while the minor remains on ventilator support at a private hospital, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Awasthi said the victim, who is a relative of Ms. Khatun, was brought in to help the couple with household chores and childcare.

‘Severely battered’

“We have learnt that the two accused would hit the minor over trivial issues and, on the intervening night of January 14 and 15, the couple assaulted the minor and left her severely battered,” said Mr. Awasthi. He added that the minor was first taken to Sarvodaya Hospital in Greater Noida.

However, Mr. Anwar discharged her from there on January 15 citing financial issues, even as the hospital authorities recommended that she be shifted to the intensive care unit.

She is currently being treated at Max Hospital in Noida Sector 128.

An officer said the victim is being treated for multiple rib fractures and scars, torn nails, and swelling around the eyes.

Her haemoglobin level is quite low, indicating prolonged negligence, the officer added.

The issue came to light when the constable’s supervising officer approached the police and wrote to the district child welfare committee, seeking the registration of an FIR for various offences, including grievous abuse, child labour, and trafficking of a minor.

As per the FIR registered at the Ecotech police station, the victim was taken to Sarvodaya Hospital in an unconscious condition and put on ventilator support due to injuries “all over the body”. It also notes that the accused did not take the victim to the CRPF camp hospital for first aid or any treatment, and failed to provide a satisfactory response regarding the minor’s condition.
