Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka for Southern India Ganesanathan Geathiswaran on Wednesday appreciated the government and people of India for their support in the relief efforts in his country after Cyclone Ditwah.

Addressing a gathering of over 150 people on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, the Deputy High Commissioner, who hoisted the national flag at an event in Chennai, also acknowledged the contributions of the Sri Lankan community and well-wishers in Tamil Nadu in the relief operations.

The diplomat highlighted the government of Sri Lanka’s policy priorities on national rebuilding, economic recovery, strengthening the rule of law, and reconciliation. He also referred to the government’s commitment to relief, rehabilitation, and climate-resilient development following Cyclone Ditwah.
