Special voter registration camps will be held at all 4,079 polling stations in Chennai district on January 10 and 11, election officials said.

The camps are part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Chennai district ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections this year, and are conducted as per the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The camps will be of help to people whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll, young citizens who have recently completed 18 years of age, and voters who need to make changes to their details, according to a press release.

Eligible citizens can apply to add their names using Form 6, along with a declaration form.

Voters whose names are already in the electoral roll of an Assembly constituency can raise objections to new entries or request the removal of existing names by submitting Form 7. Those seeking to change their address, correct personal details, replace their voter identity card (EPIC), or mark themselves as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) can apply using Form 8, the release said.

The claims and objections period is open from December 19, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Similar special camps were held earlier on December 27 and 28, 2025, and January 3 and 4, 2026, to help more people take part in the process.

The draft electoral roll was published on December 19, 2025.
