Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader’s announcement on Tuesday to the House of a photo session for all sitting members at 10 a.m. on Wednesday has triggered speculation about possible political developments, including a leadership change after the State Budget session.

Traditionally, such photo sessions are held during the final session of an Assembly’s five-year tenure. The photo session is scheduled to take place in front of the majestic Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.

However, an official from the Speaker’s office said that there is nothing unusual about organising a photo session midway through the Assembly’s term.

In contrast, the Legislative Council conducts photo sessions once every two years, as one-third of its 75 members retire biennially. A similar session for MLCs was held in front of the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday.
