Vice-Chancellor of SDM University Niranjan Kumar has called upon the nurses to continuously update their knowledge by asking questions and seeking answers.

Inaugurating the one-day workshop on “Capacity building on integrated management of neonatal and childhood illness (IMNCI)” at SDM Nursing College in Dharwad on Saturday, he emphasised the crucial role of trained nurses in neonatal and child healthcare.

He highlighted that nurses played an important role in gently counselling parents of premature babies and stressed that keen observation during the neonatal stage was critical for the survival and well-being of infants.

Delivering keynote address Vice Principal, SDM Nursing College, Rangappa Ashi highlighted the importance of IMNCI in reducing neonatal and child morbidity and mortality.

Executive director Padmalatha Niranjan, Professor of Community Medicine Umesh Dixit, Principal Prasanna Deshpande, finance officer V. G. Prabhu and others were present.
