CPI(M) National General Secretary M.A. Baby on Thursday inaugurated the Sitaram Yechury Bhavan, the party’s new district office, at Pitapuram Colony in Maddilapalem.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Baby recalled his over four- decade association with Sitaram Yechury. He recalled their entry into national politics during the SFI’s convention held in Patna in 1979. He said: “Yechury carried forward the ideology and path shown by veteran Communist leaders like Jyothi Basu and Harkishan Singh Surjeet.”

Mr Baby emphasised that the Communist parties should continue to stand for the rights of workers and fight against caste discrimination.

CPI (M) state secretary V Srinivasa Rao said that the new office should be a platform to fight against the suppression of the poor. He said that the construction of the building started on October 7, 2024 and it was completed before the first death anniversary of Sitaram Yechury. “As promised, we completed construction within the stipulated time,” he said.
