Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has said that the Telangana Government has deployed a mobile fertiliser App on the lines of Kapas Kisan App for ensuring timely supply of fertilisers to farmers.

The App is being implemented on a pilot basis in Adilabad, Mahbubnagar, Jangaon, Peddapalli and Nalgonda districts enabling seamless booking and purchase of urea by farmers. Replying to a query during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday (January 6, 2026), he said there was no scarcity of urea and other fertilisers in the State during the current season.

Markfed was appointed as nodal agency to maintain adequate buffer stock at the district level ahead of the commencement of the season. The State presently has stock of 1.67 lakh tonne of urea for supply to farmers till March this year. Of the total requirement of 10.4 lakh tonne for the season, the Government received supply of 6.19 lakh tonne till January 5 of which, 4.5 lakh tonne was sold leaving balance of 1.67 lakh tonne.

He said there would not be a crisis every year and that the shortage noticed during last kharif was mainly on account of delayed supply of imported urea by the Central Government and shut down of Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited during the peak season. The Government had initiated several steps to check black marketing and instructions were issued for creation of additional sale points and utilisation of Rythu Vedikas wherever required to ensure timely delivery of fertilisers to farmers.

The Government was requested to supply an additional 60,000 tonne of urea for January which would be met and it had forged active coordination with railways and port authorities for timely drawal of the allocated quantities.
