Seven pilgrims from Tamil Nadu killed, seven others injured in road accident in Nepal

Seven pilgrims from Tamil Nadu died and seven others were injured after the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident in Nepal on Saturday (March 14, 2026), officials said in Chennai on Sunday (March 15, 2026).

Senior officials of the State government were coordinating with officials in the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi and those of the Ministry of External Affairs to bring home the injured who were treated at a medical college hospital.

The deceased were identified as Annamalai, Vijayal, Meenakshi,  Sivakami, Muthu Kumar, Meena, and Tamilarasi.

The accident happened in Gorkha district of Gandaki Province, the State government said in a release.

A total of 24 pilgrims from Pollachi and Devakottai travelled to the Manakamana Temple in Gorkha district.

“After the autopsy, the bodies are being taken to Kathmandu, from where they will be sent to Chennai. Efforts are being made to transport the mortal remains to the native places of the deceased,” the release said.
