The second Sudanese national admitted to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad for evaluation after developing fever during quarantine has tested negative for Ebola, hospital authorities confirmed on Saturday, June 6.
The patient, a Sudanese student in his 20s, had been placed in isolation as a precautionary measure after developing fever while under quarantine following his arrival in Hyderabad. Samples collected from him were sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) for testing, and the results returned negative for Ebola.
The development comes a day after another Sudanese traveller, who was isolated after fever was detected during thermal screening at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), also tested negative for Ebola.
The student had travelled from Uganda to Hyderabad for educational purposes and was initially placed under quarantine as part of yellow fever surveillance protocols. After he developed fever during the quarantine period, health authorities shifted him to Gandhi Hospital for isolation and further evaluation.
