South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Monday reviewed the safety of train operations and preparedness for winter. He virtually reviewed the safety at level crossings, following of safety protocols, and the grievances of the staff on working hours, lighting and pathways.

The SCR GM asked the Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of Vijayawada, Guntur, and Guntakal divisions, heads of the mechanical, electrical and the signal and telecommunication wings on the availability of safety equipment such as GPS trackers, walkie-talkies and other devices.

He directed the officers concerned to ensure signal viability by clearing bushes along the tracks, carrying out regular inspections at vital crossings, and points and bridges.

Officials should make plans to ensure timely periodical overhauling and routine overhauling of the rolling stock, such as coaches and wagons, the GM said and verified the safety action plans prepared by various departments.
