Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday (October 2, 2025) announced the appointment of Tamil Kumaran, son of Pennagaram MLA and his supporter G.K. Mani, as the president of the party’s youth wing.
Addressing a press conference at his Thailapuram residence in Villupuram district, Mr. Ramadoss said he had previously appointed Mr. Kumaran to the post, and had issued the appointment order to him. However, Anbumani Ramadoss (who was ‘expelled’ by Mr. Ramadoss) asked Mr. Kumaran to resign from the post immediately.
“He also called me over the phone and prevailed upon me to ensure that Mr. Kumaran, who had come with his family to attend the general council meeting, did not take part in it,” Mr. Ramdoss alleged.
“Subsequently, my grandson Mukunthan (Mr. Anbumani’s nephew) was appointed to the post. Though the appointments were made by me, he (Mr. Anbumani) did not accept the appointments of both Mr. Kumaran and Mr. Mukunthan. As a result, the post remained vacant, and it has been now filled,” he said.
Mr. Anbumani’s supporters have, however, insisted that he remained the party president.
On Karur stampede
Referring to the recent stampede at actor Vijay’s TVK rally in Karur, Mr. Ramadoss said all political parties should take precautionary steps to ensure that a similar incident did not recur.
