The Ministry of Railways on Friday sanctioned the proposal for construction of the six-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) between Mangalagiri and Krishna Canal stations, said the South Central Railway’s (SCR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) A. Sridhar.

Estimated to cost ₹112 crore, it connects the road between Amaravati capital and NH-16, and SCR will bear the complete cost of the project.

The proposed railway track is an important line connecting Chennai-Howrah via Vijayawada. “Indian Railways planned a four-lane, but considering the future traffic at the location, six-lane ROB has been proposed by the State government, and the Ministry has agreed to it,” the CPRO said.

The proposed ROB would help in smooth flow of road traffic towards the capital region and ensure safety of both road and rail users, besides facilitating seamless transportation, Mr. Sridhar said in a release.
